What is Dash?

Dash is an open-source peer-to-peer cryptocurrency based on the Bitcoin software. It was formerly known as Darkcoin and XCoin and was designed to ensure privacy and anonymity. Dash is a decentralized autonomous organisation (DAO) because of the decentralized budgeting and governance system. As well as Bitcoin's feature set, Dash currently offers private transactions, instant transactions and enables Dash Network to pay businesses and individuals to perform work which will add value to the network.

History of Dash

In January 2014 the XCoin was released by Evan Duffield, in the February of the same year the name was changed to Darkcoin and in March 2015 it was rebranded as Dash. Dash's market capitalisation is around $4.3 billion, and it was in the top 12 cryptocurrencies as of April 2018.
