What is Dash?
Dash is an open-source peer-to-peer cryptocurrency based on the Bitcoin software. It was formerly known as Darkcoin and XCoin and was designed to ensure privacy and anonymity. Dash is a decentralized autonomous organisation (DAO) because of the decentralized budgeting and governance system. As well as Bitcoin's feature set, Dash currently offers private transactions, instant transactions and enables Dash Network to pay businesses and individuals to perform work which will add value to the network.
History of Dash
In January 2014 the XCoin was released by Evan Duffield, in the February of the same year the name was changed to Darkcoin and in March 2015 it was rebranded as Dash. Dash's market capitalisation is around $4.3 billion, and it was in the top 12 cryptocurrencies as of April 2018.
How to buy Dash?
To get Dash, you need to sign up for a wallet. This is where you’ll receive and store your Dash.
There are two main ways to buy Dash, either trade it with Bitcoin or buy it with fiat currency. If you already own Bitcoin, then trading it to Dash is quick and straightforward. It will just be a case of moving your bitcoin to an exchange and then trading it for Dash.
Buying Dash with fiat currency is not as simple because not many platforms allow it. Although there have been talks that Dash developers are forming new partnerships with other crypto services to make it more accessible for fiat-to-Dash transactions.
